An Indian mahāsiddha of the 11th-12th century, he traveled to Tibet several times, transmitting teachings based on Prajnaparamita and Mahamudra, as well as what became known as the Zhijé (Pacifying) tradition. He is closely associated with Chö lineages, with many sources describing him as the teacher of Machik Labdrön, who became known as the progenitrix of Chö.
