There, he completed his graduate degree on Buddhist philosophy and science from the Vajra Vidya Institute (Higher Buddhist Studies). In 2014, after completing his studies, he was appointed as a tutor and teaching staff for our monks at Shree Mangal Dvip Branch school at Namo Buddha.
In 2015, he was sent to Lhodrak Nyidey Monastery as a teacher for the young monk student at monastery. Since then, he is carrying his responsibility.
In 2018 and 2019, he served as the ritual Master for the Special Taiwan Kagyü Mönlam Chenm. There auspicious ceremonies were organized by the International Kagyü Mönlam Committee under the esteemed guidance of the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa. During both editions of the Kagyü Mönlam, he played a crucial role as Chant Master conducting the traditional rituals, prayers, and pujas. Furthermore, upon the invitation by Taiwan ZhiZhai Chanyue JaiTou Buddhist Community (a government recognized institution) in 2020, he actively engaged in performing religious activities to contain the pandemic. His continued participation over the span of three years amidst the widespread pandemic have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to help combat challenges posed by the pandemic and have played a significant role in containing the adverse effects caused by the global health crisis. His engagement in religious ceremonies, rituals, and teachings has fostered a sense of the unity, resilience, and hope among the attendees and the broader community. He still continues to be a part of the community and contributes in whatever possible ways. Any assistance provided towards him will be highly appreciated by Lhodrak Nyidey Monastery members.
In the year 2023, in response to the request made by Druk Zangri Kharmar Monastery in Bhutan, he was sent from Nyidey Monastery in Lhodrak to serve as a teacher. In fact, for Khenpo himself, this monastic seat is like his homeland, as it is the place where he first entered the monastic community and where, for many years, he diligently studied and practiced ritual traditions.
At present, while residing in Taiwan, he has rendered immeasurable service to the Buddha’s teachings in general, and in particular to this monastery, and continues to do so. In recognition of this, in the year 2025, Lama Rigdzin Longyang graciously bestowed upon him the auspicious ceremonial scarf (Tashi Khadar) as a mark of trust and blessing.
Before Lama Rigdzin Longyang passed away, he stated that Khenpo Urgyen Tséwang “was no different from Khen Rigdzin Norbu and personally offered him a khata as a sign of blessing.”.
In front of all the practitioners of Druk Zangri Kharmar, Lama Rigdzin Longyang stated that after his passing, “there would be absolutely no distinction between Khen Rigdzin Norbu and Khenpo Urgyen Tséwang, and that both of them would have equal authority.”
Since then, a senior assistant has joined, and he has been faithfully serving and supporting us continuously.
